DEACON TEAMS
Our Deacon teams serve our church community in the following ways:

The Connection Team
This team serves new church members by acclimating them into the life of Westport Road Baptist Church. The team strives to ensure each new member finds meaningful fellowship, associates with a small group, and finds a place to serve within the body. The team works to welcome, educate, integrate, and follow-up with all new church members. This team works especially close with the church staff in helping to understand the needs, background, and life situation of new members in order to better serve them.
“So in Christ we who are many form one body, and serve each member belongs to all the others.”
Romans 12:5

The Hope Team
This team seeks to serve the needs of church members experiencing stays in the hospital or rehabilitation centers that draw them away physically from the church. This team will also serve those families in bereavement situations. The team will ensure team members cover hospital and funeral home visits.
“Carry each others’ burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

The Helping Hands Team
This team seeks out those with specific needs such as transportation, lawn care, home repair, or temporary difficulties related to an illness. This team is always prepared to provide someone to talk to and a hand to hold. This team is particularly well equipped in knowing the special skills and talents of willing church members, and matching those abilities and gifts to serve those with real need within the body. This team will work closely with all other teams the church staff to ensure that special needs within the church body are being met.

The Extended Arms Team
This team will serve the church body by ministering to and loving all church members by extending the church to nursing homes and shut-ins. This team will serve to reach out to those members who are unable to attend church services to ensure that they are cared for by their church family. The primary purpose of this team is to visit members regularly, serve communion and coordinate activities with those in the nursing home and who are shut-in.
