Poured Out: Week 2 - From Blood to Belonging

In Week 2 of Poured Out: A Study on Sacrifice, we move into Leviticus to see how God formally establishes sacrifice as a way for sinful people to draw near to His holy presence. Through the tabernacle and the sin offering, God provides both the instructions and the means for reconciliation, showing that holiness has always been a gift from Him—not something humanity can achieve on its own. Blood, representing life itself, becomes central to this system, reminding God’s people that sin always carries the cost of death.

This study also highlights the limitations of the Old Testament sacrificial system and points us forward to Jesus. Hebrews reminds us that the blood of animals could never fully remove sin, but only prepare people to approach God temporarily. In Christ, however, sacrifice is completed once and for all. His blood not only grants access to God’s presence but elevates believers to children of God and co-heirs with Christ, calling us to respond by offering our lives as living sacrifices.
